Directions to Amersham Climbing Centre

Basically just find the railway station and it's on the same road. Coming from Reading go down the hill into Amersham, turn R at Tescos r'bout. L at next r'bout and go up the hill under the railway bridge. R at mini r'bout and across the next one passing the railway station on the R. Follow this road (Chiltern Avenue) and the Climbing Centre is the last turn on the right next to the ambulance station (I hope there is no connection!).

Directions to Cox Green climbing wall

From Reading : Take A4 to Maidenhead and turn right at the first road just after the roundabout that passes over the A423M.
After less than a mile, turn left into Highfield Lane, through the traffic lights on the bridge over the railway (200m) and then first right and right again into the car park. The wall is in the gymnasium on the left.
p.s. the grid reference is 864796 on OS 175.

Directions to Brunel University Sports Hall

For ease of directions we suggest the M40. Come off at J1, turn right and keep going over a number of r'bouts until you get to the one with the air-force place on the left. Turn L and after a short while there is a set of traffic lights, and a large chip shop on the right. Go straight on here but get in the RH lane as the you want to take the second R turn (Kingston Lane) about 150 yards down (should be signposted to the University). The University is on the right and take the second entrance on the R into the gravel car park. The building next to it is the sports centre. An alternative route to come at it from the south is to come off the M4 at junction 4 and head for Hillingdon Hospital on Pield Heath Road. (One way is to stay on the A408 for a while and at a large r'bout you turn R onto the B465 (West Drayton Road). At the next r'bout turn L onto Green Road. At mini r'bout turn L into Pield Heath Rd). You should now have the hospital on both sides of you. Go over the next mini r'bout and take the second turning on the R into the University (Kingston Lane). Take the second turning on the L into the gravel car park. The building next to it is the sports centre.

Directions to Oxford Brookes Sports Centre

There seems to be all sorts of routes (including going twice round the ring road!) but the route (with recommended parking) is to head for Headington so… Stay on the Oxford Ring Road (A4142). When this becomes the A40 at a r'bout turn off onto London Road (A420). London Road takes you past some shops, and then if you look down a road to the L you'll see 'The Shark' (no its not a pub, but you'll know it when you see it!). Keep going, ignoring the Gipsy Lane campus and a bit further on you'll see a footbridge ahead. Just before this there is Headington Hill Hall on the R (once owned by Robert Maxwell I believe). You can park here. You can then cross the footbridge to get to the sports centre. Apparently you can only park here after 5pm, but its safer and quicker than parking on Cheney Lane.

Directions to The Bristol Climbing Centre

(From Reading) M4... M32... At J3 on the M32, get off , go right around the roundabout and back down the slip road to go north again. Halfway down the sliproad is a turn off. Take this road and follow it until you come to a church (that's where the wall is) Now park, avoiding parking in front of anyone's house (the locals don't like it) or under the bridge (it's the only way in for fire-engines to get to the houses beyond).

Directions to Guildford

1. Take the A329(M) to Bracknell
2. At Bracknell go straight on, following the signs for the M3, leaving Bracknell on the A322
3. Follow the A322 for about 15 miles until you come to a junction with the A3, just outside Guildford
4. Turn right onto the A3 Westbound
5. Come off the A3 at the next junction, about half a mile away
6. At the roundabout turn left into Surrey University
7. Park at the first car park you come to, on the left 8. The climbing wall is in the sports hall, which is the large building opposite the car park, on the right. The entrance is at the opposite end of the building.

Directions to Bourne End

If you've coming in by taking the A4 and then the A404 going to Marlow, once you've crossed the river by Marlow, turn R onto the A4155, past Well End and Little Marlow.
In Bourne End, stay on the A4155, and after going through a large part of the village and passing a turning R onto the A4094, turn L up New Road. The Sports Club is on the R after the school.

Information and directions to Swindon

The Link Centre, Swindon
Leave M4 at Junction 16 Swindon West.
Follow signs for town centre.
At first roundabout turn left onto Whitehill Way.
Follow road, go over about 4 mini roundabouts and centre is on the right (about 5-10 minutes from the motorway).
Open 10:00 - 10:30 Mon - Fri; 10:00 - 18:00 Sat and Sunday.
No membership, but you have to fill in a registration form the first time and be able to tick yes to all the questions (like can you lead E6, 7a on sight).
It's supposed to be the biggest wall in SW England and supposedly better than the Bristol Climbing Centre. All walls are 9m high. They have a basic top rope wall with 4 lines and 16 routes varying from 4 - 7a+. (Easy to need suckers on hands and feet). There's a bouldering wall that simulates sandstone, about 8-10m wide x 4 m high. Then there's plywood leading walls with 1 - 4 m overhangs with routes from 5a - 7b+. Next there's an arete in bendcrete concrete, with top ropes, bolts and, wait for it, placement walls where you place your own gear. For this you need 1 set of nuts and a couple of slings. The placements have been tested to 22 kN, at which point the nut wires start to break.

Information and directions to Westway

Westway climbing wall, London, nearest tube station: Latimer Road (3 stops up Jubilee Line from Hammersmith).
By car, go to Shepherds Bush then sort of drive northwards towards Ladbroke Grove (check with Simon !).
This is an outdoor wall so it's brilliant in the summer but as it is under a motorway it can be a bit oppressive in winter. The centre piece is the 15m overhanging leading wall. This is a very pumpy sustained wall even on the easiest route. It is pre-clipped so that does make it slightly easier. Take a rope though as you cannot borrow gear. The routes range from about 5a upwards but there is plenty of bouldering and a much easier pinnacle. The slab at the back of the lead wall is also fun to warm up on!

Cobbett Park is a smaller industrial estate within the main estate.
