There are a number of useful sites on the net for obtaining weather forecasts and snow conditions in the UK.
Metfax, provided by the Met Office, is useful for obtaining comprehensive forecasts. Just dial your fax machine with the appropriate number below and it will fax you back the forecast (cost is £1/minute) :
